All About Types of Asthma

Asthma infections have been on the rise especially in the recent past in some states of America. It is a disease that hinders the proper functioning of the airways which is responsible for carrying air in and out of the lungs. If this condition persists, the inside walls of an individual’s airways become swollen due to inflammation. This causes an increase in their sensitivity making them quite susceptible to any allergic reactions. They later become narrow and therefore allowing less air to pass through to the lungs and out of the lungs. The most common symptoms of asthma include problems such as: wheezing, chest tightness, coughing and problems while trying to breathe normally experienced early in the morning and at night.

There are various types of asthma affecting Americans and they include;

Cough induced asthma

This type of asthma presents itself by a person coughing without showing any other asthmatic symptoms. It is therefore not easy to diagnose and therefore doctors are left with an option of offering medication for chronic bronchitis and postnasal drip caused by fever or a sinus disease. Cough induced asthma can affect a person anytime irrespective of whether it is daytime or nighttime. It has the ability of distracting a person from sleeping well at night.

Child onset asthma

This is an asthma type caused by common allergens in our surrounding as well as some genetic reasons and it is known to start when a person is young. Common allergens in this context refers to any kind of substance that the body treats as foreign therefore triggering immune responses to counter them. They include; pollen, dust, animal proteins and fungi. This asthma type presents itself by the child getting hypersensitive to these common environmental allergens as highlighted above. Thus exposure to such allergens makes the airways cells to be quite sensitive and thus producing asthmatic responses.

Exercise induced asthma

This is an asthma type that comes in form of a person wheezing and even sometimes feeling to be out of breath when they exercise. If after undergoing a strenuous exercise you find it difficult to breathe it is an indication that you may be having exercise induced asthma.

It is important to note that if you only experience asthma symptoms during and after an exercise your case is easy to treat and with time you will be well to engage in such activities after getting treated. In addition, most people with the other types of asthma when they engage in physical exercises the asthmatic symptoms will come out profoundly which is not the case with people with exercise induced asthma as the symptoms won’t present themselves if they don’t engage in exercises.

Adult onset asthma

This is a type of asthma that normally develops when a person reaches the age of twenty and above. It has been found to affect American women more than men and as compared to child onset asthma it is not common. It has been highly linked with common allergens as well. It has been found to be also caused by exposure to chemical components of some metals, plastics, medications and wood dust.
